A 2.5" long and 3" tall notch on one side of this tall nest box enables squirrels to easily enter it, and an internal ledge beneath this opening provides them a comfortable perching spot. The overhanging roof keeps rain and snow out of the domicile, and the front panel lifts for seasonal cleaning.

Predrilled holes on the top lip make it easy to place this shelter against a wall, tree, or post, and a stylized squirrel figure resting on the front panel lends a fun motif to the home. A generous thumbscrew at the base of this section keeps the nesting box securely closed, while its 0.625" thick, all wood construction remains durable for many seasons.

Within 3 days we had a resident for the squirrel house. She has been busy ever since filling it with leaves, grass, twigs, etc. to make a comfy nest.

We have new tenants!

Have thought I saw signs of one or more of our little squirrels using this house, but now it's official. One was peeking out the entry, while another was keeping watch from the roof of the house. Wondering if we may have baby squirrels before long. That will be a new experience. We are so enjoying having the squirrels in our backyard.

Everything I Wanted In This Product

I bought this Squirrel House for my husband for his birthday, along with the horizontal bird roost. We have enjoyed watching at least 3 squirrels visit our yard to get their share of the bird food. We often talk about what our little birds and squirrels will do to make it through the winter, and I just thought providing the two shelters would be doing our part to save what wildlife we personally can. I like that these two houses are made from untreated wood that will last several years.

We have watched our squirrels investigate the house many times now, so we know they will take up residence when the weather gets cold enough. Also, it most likely hasn't been cold enough for the birds to spend time in the bird roost yet, but we can't see the openings from our patio and aren't sure if the birds have investigated it. It will be exciting when we see squirrels and birds popping in and out of their respective shelters.
