Garden Watering Accessories: Simple Tools That Make a Big Difference

Garden Watering Accessories: Simple Tools That Make a Big Difference

Watering your garden may seem straightforward, but the right tools can make the task not only easier—but more enjoyable! Whether you're tending a small container garden or a sprawling backyard plot, having reliable, stylish, and functional accessories is key to keeping your plants happy and healthy. Today, I’m sharing three of my favorite garden accessories for watering: a classic watering can, a handy rain gauge, and an elegant hose storage pot.

1. A Well-Balanced Watering Can:

There's something timeless about watering your plants with a classic watering can. I love using one with a long spout for gentle, precise watering, especially for potted herbs and delicate flowers.  Sometimes pulling out the entire hose is not needed, or you have plants that are not in reach or it.

Why I love it:

  • It gives me more control over how much water each plant gets.
  • Perfect for indoor and patio plants where a hose is too much.
  • It’s charming enough to leave on display!

Tip: If you have tap water, fill your watering can and let it sit for a few hours before using—this allows chlorine to dissipate, which can be better for sensitive plants.

2. Rain Gauge: Small Tool, Big Insight

Knowing how much rain your garden gets can prevent overwatering and save you time. My rain gauge sits in one of my garden beds and gives me an easy way to track rainfall during the week.  This can be especially helpful for this middle of the night storms where you’re not sure how much water your plant received.

Why I love it:

  • Helps me avoid unnecessary watering after storms.
  • Keeps me in tune with my garden's natural hydration.
  • It’s a surprisingly satisfying way to track weather patterns.

Tip: Choose a rain gauge that’s easy to read and place it away from trees or structures for accurate measurement.

3. Hose Storage Pot: Function Meets Beauty

Gone are the days of wrestling with tangled hoses in the grass. I use a decorative hose pot that sits near my garden beds. It keeps my hose neatly coiled and easily accessible, while doubling as a beautiful garden feature.  I have tripped over my hose more times than I’d like to admit, and running a wheel barrow back and forth over a hose mess is not ideal.

Why I love it:

  • No more tripping over hoses!
  • Keeps the yard tidy and visually appealing.
  • Protects the hose from weather/sun damage and kinks.

Tip: Make sure the pot is heavy enough not to tip over and ventilated to allow moisture to escape.

Final Thoughts:

These simple but thoughtful tools help streamline one of the most important parts of gardening: watering!  With a beautiful watering can, a practical rain gauge, and an elegant hose storage pot, you can take care of your plants with style and efficiency.  Whether you're a new gardener or a seasoned pro, the right accessories make all the difference. Happy watering!
